Singapore struck by (netball) Fever

The High Commissioner meets Fever and Singapore national team players and coaches

The West Coast Fever netball team, part of the premier Australia-New Zealand club competition, recently visited Singapore for a pre-season training camp.

Led by Australian world championship-winning coach Norma Plummer and star players such as captain Natalie Medhurst, vice-captain Ashleigh Brazill and goal shooter Caitlin Bassett, the Fever was honoured at a reception at High Commissioner Philip Green's residence along with members of the Singapore National Netball team, trained with the Singapore players, held clinics at schools at played an intra-club practice game.

The practice game took place at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall in front of an enthusiastic crowd that saw the Fever take on their development side Fever in Time in a high-standard contest.

The Fever competes in the trans-Tasman competition the 'ANZ Championship', comprising five Australian and five New Zealand teams battling it out over 14 rounds from March to July each year.

The trip was made possible through the Western Australian State Government as part of their initiative to strengthen ties and promote sport in the region.
