Current passport delivery times

The Australian Passport Office (APO) is currently seeing strong demand for passports. For this reason, it is advising its customers to apply for or renew their passport well ahead of their planned travel dates. The APO is therefore recommending, at least for now, that they allow a minimum of six weeks to get a new passport. You may choose to collect at our office or have the passport delivered to you in Singapore. Please see Passports: Passport Collections (

Passports are printed in Australia so we are unable to offer a priority service in Singapore. Please see How long to get a passport | Australian Passport Office (

Australian citizens residing in Singapore should be aware that you are required by Singapore government to always maintain a passport/travel document with at least 6 months validity. Please keep this in mind and check your passport validity. Passports are printed in Australia, so we are unable to offer a priority service in Singapore.

New policy on passport photos

The Australian Passport Office no longer allows glasses in passport photos taken from 1 July 2018.  Glasses may be allowed in rare circumstances where glasses cannot be removed for medical reasons (e.g. the applicant has severe light sensitivity or recently had eye surgery and glasses are necessary to protect their eyes).  In these cases, a medical certificate is required to be presented at lodgement of the passport application.  The medical certificate must be signed by a medical practitioner and state the medical reason glasses cannot be removed.

Who should lodge an Australian passport application?

Applications for Australian passports must be lodged in person. Children under 16 years do not need to attend interviews. You will need to make an appointment. We will only see you in exceptional circumstances without an appointment.

Citizenship Appointments

The below information is for passport appointments only. To apply for Australian citizenship, please see: Become a citizen (
