We also introduce you to some aspects of Australia. Whether you are a potential investor, migrant, student or visitor to our shores; an Australian trying to keep abreast of what is happening at home; or just a curious cyberspace traveller who has stumbled upon us, I hope you find the information on the website to be useful.

It takes more than a modem and a mouse to come terms with another country and its way of life. Aside from providing answers to some of our most asked questions, the website is also aimed at conveying a sense of what a unique place Australia is - the world's largest island, its smallest continent; a country whose indigenous population has what is probably the oldest continuous culture in the world, and which is today the most multicultural of contemporary societies.

Australia is an energetic, vibrant, even cheeky country - a country with a great sense of fun. But equally, it is a place where achievement is a serious pursuit - in our economy, our culture, our sport. A young nation politically, yet already one of the six oldest continuous democracies.
